Ingredients in this strawberry vodka cocktail

No, you don’t need strawberry vodka here: though you could use it if you have it! The main effort involved in this cocktail is making a homemade strawberry syrup. Other than that, you can mix the drink right in the glass! Here’s what you’ll need:

Strawberry syrup

Use homemade strawberry syrup (or substitute purchased)

It’s absolutely worth making homemade syrup for this strawberry vodka cocktail! The brilliantly fresh berry flavor is even more pronounced when you make your own at home. But if you don’t have time (we get it!), there are plenty of strawberry simple syrup options at your local liquor store or online. Here are the basic steps to make homemade strawberry syrup:

  • Simmer strawberries, sugar and water for 10 to 12 minutes. You’ll cook them until the berries break down.
  • Pass the mixture through a fine mesh sieve. This removes the seeds, resulting in a smooth syrup.
  • Chill. The syrup thickens as it cools. But you can make this strawberry vodka cocktail immediately after making the syrup, don’t worry!

How to make a strawberry vodka cocktail: basic steps

Once you’ve whipped up that syrup, this strawberry vodka cocktail comes together quickly. In fact, you can build it right in the glass: no need to dirty a cocktail shaker! Here’s what to do:

  1. Pour: Add all ingredients to a highball glass.
  2. Add ice: Pro tip: serve it with clear ice, if you have the time to make a batch! Clear ice is crystal clear ice cubes you can make at home and cut into organic shapes. It makes the drink look stunning! Head to our clear ice tutorial.
  3. Garnish: Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a few fresh strawberries. Voila!
