This peach daiquiri is refreshing and full of juicy peach flavor! Rum and lime pair perfectly with this sweet fruit.
Here’s a drink that’s light, refreshing, and bursting with juicy flavor: the Peach Daiquiri! This one is a spin on the Classic Daiquiri and it’s all about combining fruit with rum and lime. Because it uses peach schnapps, you can make it in any season! Of course, it’s best in the summer when juicy peaches abound. Each sip is a burst of cool, fruity flavor with a zing on the finish. What’s in a peach daiquiri?
The peach daiquiri is a spin of the Classic Daiquiri, a cocktail invented back in the 1800’s in Cuba. A classic daiquiri is just lime, rum, and simple syrup: a perfectly balanced sour cocktail. Perhaps when you think of a daiquiri you think of a frozen texture, like a spiked smoothie? Well, the real daiquiri is not frozen at all. Frozen daiquiris came along later and became popular in the 1990’s. (Try our Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri, Frozen Daiquiri, Banana Daiquiri and Mango Daiquiri.)
This peach daiquiri is just like the classic, except it in includes peach schanpps for a very forward, juicy peach flavor on the finish. Here’s what you’ll need:
- White rum
- Peach schnapps
- Lime juice
- Simple syrup
- Orange juice or peach slices
Why use peach schnapps?
Peach schnapps has such a strong peach flavor, it’s even more powerful than the real fruit. It works well here because it infuses a fruity flavor into the entire drink. Why does it work so well?
- Peach schnapps is a type of schnapps made by adding peach flavoring to a clear grain spirit. It was introduced in 1984 by DeKuyper, and quickly became the top selling schnapps in America.
- What does peach schnapps taste like? The flavor is intensely fruity and peachy. A little goes a long way!
- What other drinks use peach schnapps? The most popular peach schnapps cocktail is the Fuzzy Navel. You can also use it for a Peach Martini, Peach Bourbon Cocktail, or Georgia Peach.
Use orange juice or ripe peaches
Because the Peach Daiquiri uses peach schnapps, there’s no need for ripe peaches at all. In fact, you can make the entire drink in any season using a special trick: orange juice! But if you’ve got peaches on hand: you can use those too. Here’s what to know about this swap:
- Orange juice adds a little color and sweetness that mimics a peach, but without adding citrus flavor. The peach schnapps adds the fruity flavor that you need in a peach drink.
- Ripe peach slices work too, if it’s peach season and you have them on hand. Use 6 to 8 peach slices, and muddle them first in the cocktail shaker.
How to make a peach daiquiri: basic steps
The Peach Daiquiri is very simple to make, once you’ve got your required ingredients on hand. Here’s what to do:
- Shake: Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker. Add 2 handfuls ice and shake until cold. Don’t have a cocktail shaker? Use a mason jar with top.
- Strain: Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a fresh peach if you have it onhand.
