Sources tell us it’s a UK and Australian thing…but we’ve love to know your experience with it. Here’s how to make the best version of cheese toast you’ll have!

Ingredients in the best cheese toast

This isn’t any old cheese toast. Don’t go thinking this is a recipe for melting a slice of cheese onto bread. No, this is the best cheese toast! You could serve it in a restaurant and still impress eaters. Here are the keys to the mind-bending flavor:

  • Mayonnaise. Just a thin coating of mayo on the bread adds ultra-savory flavor.
  • Dijon mustard. Goes hand in hand with mayo! The Dijon adds just the right tang.
  • A mix of cheeses. You can use whatever you have on hand: but using a mix of cheese varieties adds complexity! We used a blend of sharp cheddar, mozzarella and Parmesan.
  • A pinch of salt. Sounds simple, but a simple pinch of salt heightens all the flavors.
  • Dried oregano. Add a little pizzazz with a sprinkle of oregano.
