Got a bottle of St Germain and want to make a drink? Here’s your new go-to St Germain cocktail! Alex and I have made it our goal to try all of the classic cocktails. But we’re also experimenting with new and creative cocktails: which is where this one comes in! St Germain is very new to the scene, but it is a must have in your liquor cabinet. The unique flavor it brings to drinks has become a personal favorite of ours. It’s sweet tart and perfectly balanced, with a bit of elderflower on the finish. It goes down very easily (so watch out!).

What’s in this St Germain cocktail?

This St Germain cocktail is very easy to drink. So much so that I finished it off quite quickly and wanted another right away. So beware! Alex made up this beautiful cocktail, so we can blame it on him. The flavors are perfectly balanced between sweet, tangy, and floral. It’s similar to a Cosmo with the vodka and cranberry, which gives it a brilliant color. Here’s what’s in this St Germain vodka cocktail:

  • St Germain
  • Vodka
  • Cranberry juice
  • Lemon juice
  • Simple syrup or pure maple syrup

What is St Germain?

St Germain is a liqueur made with elderflowers, the small white flowers of an elderberry plant. This flavor is warm and floral. Here’s the interesting part: did you know St Germain was invented in 2007? With the beautiful vintage-looking bottle, we always assumed it had hundreds of years of history. (Here’s the story behind inventing it.) It’s safe to say this newcomer to the cocktail scene has enjoyed massive popularity. This St Germain vodka cocktail is a great way to use it!

How do you say St Germain? First off, don’t say “Saint”. It’s actually pronounced “Sahn-jer-MAHN.” But however you want to say it to not sound too pretentious with your friends, go for it!

Cranberry juice drink

This cocktail uses unsweetened cranberry juice!

We have a whole list of cranberry cocktails on our website: the Cosmo, Vodka Cranberry, Sea Breeze, Bay Breeze, and more. While most traditional versions of cranberry drinks use sweetened cranberry juice, this St Germain cocktail uses 100% cranberry juice! Make sure to look for unsweetened juice when you’re shopping at the store. Many of the juices on the market have added sugars: avoid cranberry cocktail, which often has high fructose corn syrup.

What else to do with a bottle of St Germain? We’ve got answers! Alex and I created a few different St Germain cocktail recipes so you know what to do with the rest of the bottle.

A good drink for those tart fans out there. I used agave nectars for simple syrup but it may have made it a little thick. I might go no sweetener next time and add a dash of Cointreau next time.

sweet and tart but nice and festive!

I love cranberry and Saint Germain drink! I was wondering if you had a recipe for it to make a whole batch for company?
    Thank you :)

This would be an easy one to do in a pitcher. Just fill the pitcher and stir with 2 handfuls of ice for 8 servings:

      1 cup vodka
      1 cup 100% cranberry juice
      1/2 cup St. Germain
      1/2 cup lemon juice
      3 tablespoons maple syrup
