Need a great party drink? Try this Party Punch recipe: equal parts fruity, bubbly and delicious! Many punch recipes can be overly sweet: you know, the kind with lime green sherbet? Instead, this one is sweet tart and refreshing, with hints of bubbles from ginger ale. It takes just 5 minutes to whip up and works for a crowd. Spike it with rum if you like, or serve it non alcoholic: either way, it’s absolutely irresistible!

Ingredients in party punch

Party punch comes together in just 5 minutes: which is ideal when you’re entertaining and need to focus on making the food! It’s just as delicious spiked with rum as without: in fact, you can spike it after ladling out servings in order to serve it as both. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Cranberry 100% juice blend: This blend of juices is available at most grocery stores, and typically blends grape, apple, and pear juice with cranberry juice. Make sure to look for “100% juice” or “no sugar added” on the label.
  • Or, 100% pomegranate juice: Pomegranate juice is another great option: it’s sweeter than cranberry juice so you’ll have a sweeter end result.
  • Pineapple juice: Adds just the right tropical flair! Pineapple is great for punch recipes.
  • Ginger ale: Ginger ale adds just the right carbonation! It’s sweeter than ginger beer, which would also work but results in a spicier ginger flavor.

Make it non-alcoholic or spike it with rum

Want to make an alcoholic party punch? Rum works best here, though bourbon is another good option. Here are a few methods for making this drink alcoholic or customizable:

  • Add the rum to the punch bowl. Add 1 750 ml bottle rum directly to the punch bowl.
  • Spike the drinks after ladling out. This is great for if you’re serving a crowd with kids and adults! Simply ladle out about 1 cup rum and spike with about 2 ounces rum.

Serving party punch: a few notes

When it comes to serving this party punch, you can throw it together in just a few minutes. If you’re prepping for a party and thinking about what you can do in advance, here’s what to know:

  • Chill the liquids in advance. Ice waters down this party punch too much, so avoid using it. Instead, chill everything prior to serving.
  • Slice the citrus and assemble the garnishes. You can slice the citrus for the garnish in advance, if you like. Simply refrigerate prior to serving.
  • Add ginger ale right before serving. You can pour everything in the bowl in advance. Once your guests arrive, add the ginger ale. This way you get the best bubbles!

Do you prefer adding White or dark rum?

    1. Alex Overhiser says:

We prefer a lightly aged rum. Brugal Anejo is a favorite for cheaper rum.
