Spiked Apple Cider

We’ve been dying to share this recipe with you. It’s perfect for the transition to cooler weather now starting here in Indianapolis.

We’re taking off for a weekend of fall fun with some dear friends. We enjoyed this warm beverage around our firepit the other night, and just may have to bring it along!  It’s very easy to make, and the rum compliments the spice and cider perfectly. (You could make it without the “spike” and it would be delicious as well.)

Spiked & Spiced Hot Apple Cider

Makes: 6 servings
What You Need
  • ½ teaspoon cloves
  • 2 star anise
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup rum
What To Do
  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium pot. Heat on a stovetop until warm, about 10 minutes. Ladle into mugs and enjoy.

    Mmm! I’m going to serve this drink at Thanksgiving dinner this weekend :) What a yummy idea! A nice special treat to warm up with – especially since it snowed for the first time here today!
