Description

This BBQ shrimp recipe is quick and easy, with big, bold flavors. It’s the perfect fast dinner served with a side of rice, bread or a salad.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup barbecue sauce*
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 1/2 pounds medium shrimp, thawed and deveined (tail on or peeled)
  • ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • Fresh ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. If frozen, thaw the shrimp.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir together the cornstarch and 1 tablespoon water. Then stir in the BBQ sauce, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard.
  3. Pat the shrimp dry. In a medium bowl, mix the shrimp with the salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and cumin.
  4. In a very large skillet, heat the butter on medium high heat. Add the shrimp in single layer and cook until the shrimp are about 1/2 cooked through, 1 to 2 minutes. Flip the shrimp, then pour in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce is thickened and glossy. Remove from the heat and add lemon juice and fresh ground black pepper.

Notes

*Grab the best quality bottle of BBQ sauce you can find or afford: it makes a difference in the flavor.
