Description

This vegan tartar sauce recipe whips up a creamy, flavorful dip using capers, dill, and vegan mayo. Perfect for dipping vegan fish and chips, crab cakes, veggie burgers, or carrot sticks, everyone loves this plant-based twist on the classic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons* minced shallot
  • 1 tablespoon drained and finely minced capers
  • 1 tablespoon dill relish or finely minced dill pickle
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1/2 cup vegan mayonnaise
  • Salt, if desired

Instructions

  1. Chop the shallot, capers, and pickle as noted above.
  2. Stir together all ingredients in a small bowl. Taste and add salt if desired (most vegan mayo brands are salty enough without added salt).
  3. Store refrigerated for up to 1 week.

Notes

*Double the ingredients for a larger 1 cup batch (use the 2x button). We typically make small batches since we like using smaller quantities of vegan mayo at a time.
