Description

The mix of the savory cream cheese, sweet fruit, and crunchy toasted nuts in this easy pear sandwich is a unique yet delicious flavor combination.

Ingredients

Scale
  1. 8 slices bread (or Homemade Bread, Whole Wheat Bread, Artisan Bread or Dutch Oven Bread)
  2. 1/2 cup (or more) cream cheese or homemade labneh
  3. 2 ripe pears
  4. 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  5. 1 cup alfalfa sprouts or other microgreens

Instructions

  1. Place the nuts in a small dry skillet over medium heat. Cook the nuts, stirring frequently, until they are golden and fragrant, around 5 minutes.
  2. Core and thinly slice the pears.
  3. Toast the bread slices.
  4. Spread about 1 tablespoon of cream cheese on each bread slice. Sprinkle the nuts evenly over half of the bread slices. (To amp the salty or sweet flavors, add a pinch of salt to the sour cream, or a drizzle of honey.)
  5. Finish each sandwich with pear slices, alfalfa sprouts, and the remaining bread slice. Slice in half and serve.
