Hi, we’re Sonja and Alex Overhiser, the authors behind all the recipes on A Couple Cooks! We’ve created every single one of these recipes for you in our kitchen (that’s it, above!). They’re not just pretty pictures: they’re rigorously tested delicious recipes that are easy to make for home cooks everywhere! Here’s what makes our recipes unique.
Triple tested! Recipes that work
Each one of our recipes are triple tested to make sure they work every time for home cooks of any skill level. After years working in instructional design, Alex and I bring our professional knowledge in design and user experience into every recipe.
Plant powered! Healthy, whole food recipes
How do we eat? We focus on enjoying vegetables and real, whole foods. (Much of what we eat is whole food plant based or WFPB.) Most of our nearly 1,000 recipes are easy vegetarian dinner recipes or vegan or plant based recipes made with wholesome, unprocessed ingredients. You’ll find a few sustainable seafood recipes as well. Everything in moderation is key, so you’ll also find desserts that taste indulgent.
Inspired by seasonal ingredients & travel
The recipes we create are based on seasonal produce in Midwestern America (we live in Indianapolis, Indiana). But many of our ideas come from travel around the globe, from California to Alaska to Santorini to Rome. We love bringing back recipe concepts from our adventures that can be made in our kitchen.
For the love of cooking & gathering
Every recipe we create is centered around one thing: love! After getting married and learning to cook, we’ve found cooking is all about enjoying the process and gathering with people you love. It can be easy and even fun!
