These homemade pita chips are the ultimate healthy snack and easy to whip up. Here’s how to make pita chips and get fancy with toppings, too.
For the homemade pita chips
- 6 pita breads
- Olive oil
- Fine sea salt
For the homemade za’atar seasoning
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- Dried thyme
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Brush each pita with olive oil on both sides, and cut into 8 wedges each with a pizza cutter. Place them in an even layer across two baking sheets. If you’re planning to skip the za’atar seasoning, sprinkle the top with sea salt and skip to Step 4.
- Meanwhile, for the homemade za’atar seasoning: Toast the sesame seeds in a dry skillet for about 2 to 3 minutes until just golden, then remove from heat. Sprinkle the tops of the pita chips with thyme, sumac, sesame seeds, and sea salt.
- Bake until golden brown and crisp, about 15 to 25 minutes, depending on the thickness of the pita.
