Holiday Fair Trade Giveaway!

In the spirit of holiday giving, we are excited to bring you a giveaway from one of our favorite organizations. The good people over at Fair Trade USA partnered with us a few months ago for a giveaway, and now are back offering an incredible line-up of delicious products as a holiday treat for you all! (Truly — this one’s a jackpot!)

We love Fair Trade USA because they’re all about what we’re passionate about too — fair and just treatment of all people and the Earth. As we mentioned in our last post about Fair Trade, we didn’t always think about our purchasing power and what it was supporting. Most often, we made decisions to purchase things based only on price. But after learning more about where products come from and how they are made (as well as travelling to somewhere like Cambodia and understanding more about labor exploitation), we’ve gradually changed to trying to use our “purchasing power” to support things we believe in.

So, what better to think about in this holiday season than gifts that give back? Fair Trade USA has a wonderful Holiday Gift Guide, with all sorts of products from chocolate to apparel to body care to wine. Check them out for some great gift ideas.

And, on a semi-related note, we’ll be selling our benefit cookbook for Cambodia tonight (Thursday, December 12, starting at 6:00 pm) at City Market in Indianapolis for Yelp’s Totally Bazaar – come check it out for a huge lineup of local vendors for holiday shopping!

    At Thanksgiving, I tried a new stuffing/dressing recipe: Italian Chard and Sausage Stuffing. It was a huge hit! And I especially loved that I used chard from my garden!

    One of my cousins loves cookie dough. So every year I take a cookie dough dessert to our family get together. In the past its been cookie dough cheesecake, ice cream, and cupcakes. Trying cookie dough fudge for the first time this year. :)
